“Eight families share one stove for cooking over here. Can you imagine?! We have to set time aside for cooking and we must all stick to our schedule religiously. If one of us mess up, it’s a big inconvenience for the other families. This system is more difficult in summer. Sometimes our meals go sour. We don’t have a fridge, and food goes bad easily in the heat. Do you know we can’t afford to throw that food away? We end up having it; settling for whatever we have.
You are rich people with fancy devices. I’m sure you don’t have to go through hassles like these. You all have separate cooking stoves installed at your home. They run on gas. We still cook the old fashioned way. I think one of the biggest contributions to my illness has been cooking here like this. I don’t suppose there’s any point in ranting. But then again, there’s not much else I can offer you.”
