“It has been only two days since I have started working in a garment factory. I have never worked before. However, given our financial condition, I finally decided to start working. I was in quite a dilemma about joining here because most people around us don’t have a great perception of this field of work. The workload is also immense!
We have two daughters. One is five years old and the other is just two and a half. One of our daughters lives with my mother in Gazipur and the other one lives at my in law’s place with my mother in law in Netrokona. It is not possible to keep them here with us because our house is too small and we cannot afford a bigger place. Also, they are receiving a better education and a better upbringing there. However, it is not easy for us to live without them.
A lot of women work at the garment factory at Chairmanbari. Sometimes we chat and gossip in between work. One of my neighbors works there as well. Sometimes we go to work together. I am spending a good time at work.”
